Pronouns: He / him, they / them

About:

He was only seven when the fog came, but he remembers it very well. The Gorman family was not very well off, it was just him and his parents. But that was okay, although he remembers his mother crying under the stars in the backyard. An empty bottle in her hand, saying how she never wanted to marry papa. How he wasn't a planned baby, her parents made her marry to save her honor. Whatever that meant. Papa was not a cruel man, but he was distant.

'It's like I married a statue.' She sobbed, Sage running their hand through her hair. 'You're my only light in this life, little sprout.' His mother didn't remember the next day that well, he caught her staring at him. Like if she was trying to figure out if she really did tell her child all that in her drunken spiral. But she never talked about it again, and never did she ever drink a drop of alcohol. Then the fog appeared, and it took the life of his mother.

Father became even more distant, and Sage had no other parent to fill that void with love. They lived in the very poor part of the new bio domes, he saw first hand how the world changing displaced so much. His father took up the much needed job of delivering cargo, he didn't come home for what felt like weeks. And when he did, he spent many late nights out who knows where. So Sage fell in with a rowdy crowd, they stole yes. But they stole from those who they felt had enough. Sharing among themselves who had little.

'See it ain't really stealing Sage, not if they can just buy it back with more money than we'll ever see.' One of his friends would tell him. It planted a seed in their mind for their future.

Things changed though when they where fourteen, when their father came home with a baby.

Father had knocked up a woman again, he never told Sage what had happened to her. If she gave up the baby by choice or not, but what mattered was that Sage found a new light his life. A little baby, father didn't know any names so Sage picked one. They named her Rosemary. For two years Sage raised little Rosemary while their father did gods knows what. But they didn't mind much, they had a plan. When they got old enough they'd get a really good job and move to the floating cities together. Just you wait and see little sprout. But life doesn't always go as planned. And their father died while on a dangerous supply run.

Now without their father's support, Sage was at a loss on what to do. Suddenly there was a lot they couldn't give little Rosie anymore, only their love. So Sage did the hardest thing they ever had to do and left Rosemary in the care of an orphanage. Leaving her only a necklace he had made himself as a child for his mother. She may not have been Rosemary's mother, but Sage feels like she would have loved her all the same.

After making sure she would be cared for, Sage feel in deep with the underground to survive. Over the years they learned when and how to be ruthless, but also when to be kind. At age thirty five, he took up with a band of fellow thieves and started a raider gang. Funny, he became what took his father's life. But he would be no barbarian, they always cut their hauls in thirds. A third to keep, a third to sell, and a third to give those in need. So no one else has to give up family to keep going.

Its been many years, Sage has gone by many names. A popular one being 'Hemlock' or 'Gentleman in Black'. He is know to be kind and ruthless in equal measure, leaving many dead in his wake for his own ideals. For how else will the leader of The Devil's Ivy act? He's known for pulling dangerous moves to preserve cargo, and eliminate those in his way. He's awful dangerous up close, for a sky pirate.

To his targets and enemies, Sage is a ruthless man who shows no emotion when taking someone out. No joy or pain, only a goal in mind. In reality he does feel a lot, he's just distanced himself from the more gorey parts of his job mentally. His trust is hard to claim and easy to break, and he's stubborn as hell. He'll do whatever he deems is right despite what others say or may think, all to work towards his goals. Those goals being to help the poor, piss off the rich, and fuck authority.

Once you get to know him though, Sage is a very gentle soul. He takes care of who he loves very well, he adores his fellow gang members. Although no matter how much he cares. Should one fall out of line, take what is ment to be given. Kill someone who did not deserve it, he makes an example out of them. Brutally.

Name: Rosemary Gorman

Age: 43

Faceclaim: Sally Hawkins

Pronouns: She/her , they/them

About:

The only thing their family had left them was their name, and a crudely made necklace that ment the world to them. The orphanage was not a cruel place, but Rosemary would very much rather have a warm home with a family that loved them. Sometimes little Rosie would even dream of singing and warm arms. But they haven't had those dreams since they were six, and have long forgotten them.

Rosemary was raised to be a proper citizen by the nuns, and on the outside they were. Quiet, minded their manners, went to Sunday school. But behind those eyes was a fire burning inside her that bathed the world in light when she spoke or among those she trusted. However, Rosemary could never really find a direction. When nearing eighteen the deiced to become a nun as to not die on the street. For she would be thrown out the day her birthday passed. Maybe she could do good like the sisters who raised her. Somewhere in the world.

Then came the Willow Creek project, a group of bright eyed people who wanted to reclaim the land. See if humans could live outside the domes, not live in such displaced wealth. Rosemary volunteered to run the church there, help the little village become a little town. There was about fifty of them in all, they picked a good high spot that used to be a monastery. Crops were planted, homes slowly built, a tavern, and so much promise. They lasted five months before the raiders came.

They knew raiders would be a threat, but nothing happened for so long. Drills not done, machinery not tested, watchmen and guards got lazy. And in the end they perished, and almost everyone did too. If not for Rosemary.

As people fell, Rosemary evacuated whoever she could into the monastery for safety, lit an unfinished house ablaze as a distress signal, and threw a dead man off the only working turret and opened fired on the planes above. She took down three planes out of eight before the Lions arrived. Rosemary was ready to die that day, but she's glad she didn't. Her bravery didn't go unnoticed, and Colonel Montgomery offered her a job.

That was years ago. Now, Master Sgt Gorman is the Lion's bombardier, and she does her job damn well. In the air she's the one who keeps everyone in line and in formation. On the ground she may be among the pilots, but she is one everyone knows they can go to for guidance and a straight answer. Monty's trust in her is not misplaced, nor is her trust in him.

Rosemary is bold and not afraid to tell you the truth, especially if she feels you need to hear it. She spent most of her youth quiet, afraid, and directionless. So she's making up for lost time by not letting anyone push her around and give her crap. While she never thought she'd be in this position, she does love her job and cares for her fellow Lions. It almost fills the part of her heart made of loneliness and doubt.

After you remove all the layers, Rosemary is a very lonely soul. Who only wants to belong somewhere. Feel warmth and love, in almost whatever form. She doesn't like to think to far into the future. She doesn't know if she'll be alive with her kind of job, and if so, what will she do if she ever couldn't do it anymore? These thoughts haunt her if left alone too long.
