Name and Rank: Airman Andrea Piedad

Age: 30

Faceclaim: Elliot Knight

Pronouns: He/him, they/them

About:

Andrea was born in 1918, in Bogotá, Colombia. He is the youngest of three, only by minutes, who would be raised by a kind and loving mother. Their father left only months after they were born, claiming he was incapable of taking on the responsibility of fatherhood. He can only speak for himself, but Andrea believes this was for the best. Any man that quits like that is a man that he can't (and won't) show respect to.

Maybe he's more hurt than he lets on.

When he was twelve, he and his family moved to New York. There, they stayed with his uncle, Lieutenant Harada, hotshot pilot who introduced him to the world of flight, of idealized bravery and heroism that lures bright, young minds such as Andrea's. It wasn't an immediate catch - at first, he wanted to be a doctor. Then a nurse. Briefly, a painter. But eventually, he chose to follow Lt. Harada's steps, much to his mother's perfectly-concealed dismay. What he lacks in experience, compared to seasoned pilots, he makes up for with swiftness. What he lacks in intelligence, he makes up for with determination.

As a (still relatively) young pilot, Andrea is a wishful thinker. He isn't exactly rash, but he can let his heart choose over his mind, a trait many have pointed out as a flaw. Certainly seen as one in the middle of an airborne conflict, still, he believes that without sentimentality, they might as well be machines. He is a bit of an oversharer, and he believes there is a clear distinction between good and bad. He can be selfish, though it is not his intention; the safety of others, especially his family's, is his life's priority.

Name: Carey Dio

Age: 33

Faceclaim: Diane Guerrero

Pronouns: She/her, they/them

About:

They say humanity got over their differences once the fog fell over their cities and their people. That's not entirely true. People are violent, and they're selfish, and they might pretend to care for a while, but those cycles of nastiness are very easy to fall for again. Carey was too young to witness the unjust treatment of her parents; but they were cast aside, and they died in poverty and sickness when she was only a child.

That is how she was left in the hands of unrelenting pirates. Some who treated her badly. They liked to see her snap and lash out. Some who didn't. Those taught her kindness, and they treated her as any other raider, although lacking the warmth and patience a child needs to grow. That is what families are like after all - that is what the family she grew with was like. But who's got time to get stuck in all the little details when there's cargo to be caught?

They made her train as a pilot. They saw how careless she was, and they wanted her on the ground instead. When she isn't flying, she is sent with the raiders who have a talent for selling things in the black market, though sometimes she wanders away from the party and instead spends her days exploring the cities and drinking her money away.

Carey never grew out of childish tantrums. She is known for being too loud, too impatient, too explosive. Too quick and too smart, sometimes. Though many have different opinions on her, everyone can agree that she is not the most adequate person to pilot a plane. Lately she seems to be a little lost, not wanting to fully commit to a lifetime of piracy, despite her upbringing, while having nothing else to do and nothing to lose. In any case, she enjoys the philosophy of stealing from the rich - they have too much shit, and she deserves a big, fat slice of the cake.

Name: Technical Sergeant Jude Piedad

Age: 30

Faceclaim: Herizen Guardiola

Pronouns: She / her, they / them

About:

Jude is the oldest of three. By a few minutes. That’s what her mother told her, that’s what she tells people; it puts her at the top of the little triplet hierarchy, and she’s fine with that.

Unlike her youngest sibling, ever since she was little, she grew knowing exactly what she wanted - and she was incredibly determined to achieve her incredible dream. She dreamt of building and designing machines and contraptions; as well as improving existent ones, because if you want something right, you have to do it yourself. Maybe someone else can be trusted, but that someone else isn’t her.

Moving to the Big City provided her with an opportunity that she took and never let go. By then, she had begun taking apart and putting back together whatever gadgets she got her hands on, and then her uncle shower her the planes he flew. The rest is history.

When she was 21, she became an apprentice within the Lions’ ranks. There she met brilliant Giancarlo de la Rosa, who became a mentor until the horrible accident that befell him. She made a leg for him. Not out of obligation. Not because someone told her to. Because it was the right thing to do, and she wanted to see him put back together.

Her father’s abandonment made Jude a person who is not afraid to speak her mind, independent to the point of appearing very aloof, and incredibly hungry for knowledge. She believes in the power of education; as well as in equality and progress. With those values, one would think she is a patient and amiable person. However, she is rash and, often emboldened by her intelligence, tends to look down on people if they don’t understand what she’s saying. Still, she’s selfless and is willing to do anything to protect her friends and family.
